Etta James Calls Out Beyonce

Barack Obama and wife Michelle shared their first dance as President and First Lady to Beyonce’s rendition of “At Last,” made famous by Etta James.

Sweet, right?

Not according to James!

“You guys know your president, right? You know the one with the big ears? Wait a minute, he ain’t my president, he might be yours, he ain’t my president,” James told fans during a concert in Seattle last week.

Are you on Team Beyonce or Team Etta?

The singer then zeroed in on Beyonce:

“You know that woman he had singing for him, singing my song – she’s gonna get her a– whipped. The great Beyonce…But I can’t stand Beyonce. She has no business up there, singing up there on a big ol’ president day…singing my song that I’ve been singing forever.”

(Pssst, Etta: Glenn Miller actually recorded “At Last” in 1941; Nat King Cole proceded to cover it 1957; your version hit the air 20 years after the original.)
